I dont say a lot on the bladeforums here, but i do read a little. I recently purchased a small lot of broken knives, and in this was a jewel. A buck 426. It had either been broken or ground down a lot at the tip. So, I returned it to Buck to have the blade replaced. I expected to pay 10.00, but they didnt charge me. In the letter I sent, I told them how I came across it. It returned with a very nice shaped 110 blade, and im in love with it. The previous blade dated it to 1988. I wonder about all the deer it skinned, and all the splinters it dug out. The handle is dinged up a little, but I cleaned it up with some fine sandpaper on a hard backing. Something about it though speaks to me, and I carried it afield during early muzzle loader season already. Thanks for reading.

I'm glad you got one you like. You 1988, 426 had a blade of 425M steel. Wish you could have salvaged that. DM

The 426 is a nice capable easy to carry workhorse. I really like mine. I got mine used and it had lost a little of the tip but had already been reshaped. It still works great.

I didn't think it was possible to reblade a 426 or the 422..I remember lots of people would take the blade from the early 426's because they were drop points. I'll have to keep that in mind!

Thanks for all the replies. There was about 3/4" of blade lost. I prefer the 420HC steel as they temper it so its easy to sharpen.

It can be done, but we run the risk of breaking the handles when removing the rivet. We prefer to replace it. We are introducing the 110 Lite soon that is constructed the same as a 426. You can say that it is the 426 re-introduced.

Thats interesting info J Hubbard. I'll definitely be looking for those.

Not sure if I can figure out pictures without photobucket.

The 110 Lite sounds very appealing and I am excited about this news. Sounds like a winner that just might retire my Selector from field use.

Mr Hubbard do you think there will be a 112 lite? I'm still a little mystified why the Ecolite was phased out as I thought it was close to perfect. Thank you for the heads up!

Still trying to figure it out.

Well anyways, thats what yall got. It aint perfect, but i love it. Love the 192 too. Its my favorite.

I got the 192 recently, second hand off ebay. I previously owned one, sold it, and regretted it ever since. This one was made in 2015. It had scratches from bad sharpening and some dinks on the blade. Some fine sandpaper and careful work matched the factory sanding lines and I removed most of the scratches and dinks. Like the 426, It's seen some abuse, but it has a home now where it will be used and cared for.
