I have been carrying it now for 2 months and a half. Great fit and finish. Love the blade shape. The only negative comment is that it developed a little side to side and up and down blade play. If the knife had been made a slipjoint instead of a lockback this problem wouldn't have occurred. I also have one of his wharnecliffe sowbelly knives no blade play noted after the same amount of use for this reason I believe that the Barlow would be better as a slipjoint. I'm not concerned about the blade play for my use, YMMV. I will continue to buy AG's great products.

Thanks for the pics, Jake!

This seems to be a great working knives - I like the Barlow shape in general. And the whole QC and F&F seems to be just great. Do you know which steel is used for the blade?

8Cr13MoV is used. The spear shape is very useful. Yes, I bought it as a user/working blade.

I have this same knife with the "rucarta" (some kind of super dense micarta) handles and love it. I have a couple of other Barlows, and they are all flat ground with a fairly blunt edge. This pattern is of course a working knife, so they tend to have heavier blades for more utility type work, difficult to sharpen into a great slicer.

Not this one. The AGR Barlow is a slicing machine. The blade is hollow ground!! I didn't know that, but was delighted when I got it. I have plenty of hard work knives and was thinking of another slicer but hadn't set on one yet. I am very happy with this knife as the blade takes a very keen edge and his treatment of this steel seems to be just a bit harder than the regular treatment from other comanies using it. This knife is a steal; it is well made, and the fit and finish on mine was excellent.

I've heard great things about their customer service, I'm sure they will take care of you if it becomes a problem.

My experience is that will not only take care of it, but you will have it resolved in days, not in weeks. They are a concerned, dedicated group over there and it shows. Give them a call and run it by them then come back and let us know what they said.

Jake- That's a fine pocket knife.
And yes, AG has the best warranty in the business.

I'm satisfied with it as is. Like you said it's a great slicer, great steel etc. AG Russell is one of the best & most honest of retailers. I have been impressed by his treatment of others on this forum. That's the main reason I bought this knife and several others. I gifted the others to my sons and they have been equally impressed with the quality. I love the hollow grind too!
