Love my Skyline, might not buy another

I've been on a Kershaw kick lately, bought a Chill, Skyline, and Blur, each new. I love them all, and I think they're all great buys.

But. I paid $17 for the Chill, $34 for the Skyline, and $40 for the Blur. I bought the Chill and Blur from eBay, but I couldn't see any comparable good deal for the Skyline on eBay, and I bought the Skyline from an online knife store. I realize the Skyline has better steel than the Chill, is made in the USA, and appears to be more robust, but I will think twice about paying twice the cost of the Chill the next time I want to buy a Skyline, and nearly the cost of the Blur, which I think is a substantially better knife than the Skyline.

My conclusion is that while the Skyline is a good value, the Chill and Blur are exceptionally good values. (A Buck Vantage may be an even better value yet, but that's another topic.)

Anybody else wishing the Skyline were priced at about $28 ?

sure; but isn't it par to want any knife in consideration cheaper than what's it's available for?

that chill is in a line up of many other great lower cost offerings by kershaw. the skyline (and its color/steel variations) has been a very popular model for many years now at its price point; it costs what it costs...

I don't think a $5-7 price drop is going to break too many people financially. Personally, I'm glad that there is a new one with upgraded steel around the corner.

Also for people that can't own a assisted knife in there state the skyline is there only option for a good sized kershaw..

I would say yes :) , but my point is that in terms of the value I perceive, it would be easier to justify buying a Skyline at some point closer to midway between the Chill and Blur.

If that's a requirement, then yes that makes it much easier to buy the Skyline.

That's true, of course, these are all so inexpensive that one doesn't need to shop with that much emphasis on value. I guess it's kinda like people who complain about paying $3 for an iPhone app.

Okay, you fellows made me see the error of my ways. I've been over thinking it. I think I'll go out and get another Skyline!

Thanks!

I think. :)

I'm already on board for the BladeForums special Skyline! I considered that a separate case. That knife will be part of my collectibles group, rather than among the ones I use on a daily basis.

I bought my Chill to replace my U-Haul box cutter that I keep in my room. The Chill will be much more fun to look at on my desk than the orange box cutter.

I really didn't want to assign my Skyline to that role, but I think the Chill assume the role of opening boxes and mail admirably.

The Skyline resonates with me in a way I don't understand, and I didn't want to assigned it to any mundane role. Still, I can appreciate the Chill for what it is and especially for what it costs.
