I love my ZT350 it is a nice sharp blade with the heft of a fixed blade.

Here's my first impressions. I can flip this all day long.

You like it with out the spring? Do you like that you have control during opening?

Not my quote, but I am also in the unassisted crowd. The control while opening is just one reason. There are several for me:

(1) Control while opening and closing. Ever had your thumb slip off the blade while closing and had it fly back open in your hand? I have, it sucks. Being able to open in a controlled manner without a loud *THWACK* is also preferable in many situations.

(2) Easier to open and close. No overcoming the initial detent of the torsion bar while opening, no resistance from the torsion bar while closing. This makes the thumbstuds a viable opening method as well, I did not like using them with the knife assisted.

(3) Legality. While assisted opening is not technically an "auto" it is not something I want to have to argue in court.

(4) One less part to break. I don't generally carry a torx set around with me, so if the torsion bar breaks in the field, the whole knife is useless.

(5) Perceived Quality. Granted, this will vary from person to person, but the feel of a glassy smooth manual opener conveys a sense of quality you just can't appreciate with an assisted knife.

To each their own, but the benefits of unassisted certainly outweigh the fraction of a second difference (if there is one) between assisted and manual opening in my eyes.

I love my 0350 and like others, don't like assisted opening. Closing is where I have issue with it. I'm in the process of getting some Rival made grips for it, and once that's done the blade will be sent out for Cerakote!

Thanks for answering for me, I couldn't have said it better!

They are fun to flip. Now you just need to work on closing it with one hand, instead of two.

Congrats on a fine knife.

I left all three of mine with the assist. I see no need to take it out.

I love my 0350! I bought a second shortly after I bought the first just to have a spare. I actually like the assisted opening, I like the look on people's faces when it flies open and bangs into place!

Yeah deploying it is half the fun. I try and deploy it at home or around my outdoor/gun friends they tend not to get freaked out.

Just got my 0350 for Christmas. The second day I removed the torsion bar and actually enjoy it much more.

Ken Onion has some stellar designs and the 0350 is no exception.

I just bought an orange one. My first ZT. I'm impressed! Been carrying it this week. Now I want an tiger stripe version.

I've been carrying a Tiger Stripe Serrated 0350 for a few weeks & really like it.

Just got my first 350. Really like it. Fits my hand perfect and has great ergo's. I took out the torsion bar and man what a nice manual flipper! IMO it should have come like this from the factory. It also should have come with standoffs like this!

They are a wicked knife, a bit heavy but in the woods. I like a heavy knife I can save weight on other things. The tiger stripe looked nice at the store but I knew I'd eventually beat the heck out it.

I'm sure my ZT 0350 will always hold a special place in my heart as it was my very first ZT purchase. When holding, and flipping it, you know you really have a finely built piece if American hardware in your hand, I like that feeling!

To all with the de-assisted zt350, what about the thwack??? I'm tempted to do it but I would really miss that sound. Does it flip open easily? I need to know. Maybe I should just pick up another one but there are so many on the list already, ugh
