I would hope you on the porch and those beyond would post pictures of your favorite Whittlers. My favorite, as you can tell by my pictures, is based on the GEC #38 pattern. But I'm certainly lacking in the knowledge department as far as all the other Whittlers that grace our attentive hobby.

I could not resist buying this most beautiful Northwoods with cross cut mammoth ivory. It nearly takes my breath away. It arrived today and I wanted to share this with you all.

Just can't say enough good about these #38s.

I have several whittlers, but this Case 6380 is my hands-down favorite whittler and one of my favorite pocketknives of any pattern. It is similar in size and construction to the beautiful and much newer GEC 38 pattern that you have. OH

Wow... that cross-cut mammoth ivory is really beautiful. If I had that thing in my hands, I'd be staring at it all day. Congratulations!

I agree with your choice of the #38 whittler, this one has not left my pocket since I got it.

As much as I favor my #38, I really like the classics. Nothing gets my knife mojo going quite like the 3 magic words. Vintage, whittler, mother-of-pearl........ Some of my favs:

Marshall Wells - 4" beauty and the only pearl handled whittler I have seen with a punch

Really liking that old Western Whittler. Going to have to see if I can find a good example of one. I'm guessing they've some age on them now at this point. Nice old knife! Lots of personality.

I am really loving whittlers the more I see them. You guys have some fantastic examples.

Greg - You really have great whittlers there.
Old Hunter - Love the bone and jigging on that whittler, nice one.
Mike - Fantastic looking pair of whittlers.
Al - What a beautiful collection, I am jealous.
Jamie - Wow, another beautiful collection. Amazing

Thank you. I've probably spent too much time gazing at it. Thank you Derrick. I don't know how your inventory comes to be, but this one to me defines beauty.

Yeah, that mammoth ivory is impressive to say the least.
Really unique. My knife enthusiast son is...how do you say?...waiting for the day.

Beautiful examples here for sure.

I agree. Didn't realize all the different forms Whittlers take.

Jamie, your pearl handled whittlers are simply outstanding!!:thumbup:

Some great examples here... Mammoth Ivory, Pearl, Stag, Jigged Bone, old CASE Red Bone (in a league of its own!), Smooth Bone... Clips, Spears, Wharncliffes... New, Vintage, Vintage that look new (Jamie's Schrade Cut Co and Remingtons take the cake!).

Whittlers are one of my favorite patterns. I really admire the skill it takes to make a good knife and whittlers really show off the cutler's craftsmanship.

I love this knife.
My Boker Beer Barrel Whittler, I put forced protective patina using bourbon, when I first got it, to hide the horrid finish on the engraved side of the clip blade. I've had it about 3 months now and it has became my primary carry, except when I feel like swapping it out for my SAK Soldier, when I need something to resist moisture, or I want something impractical like my Case Folding Hunter or my Buck 110.

the Western Whittler pictured sure looks a lot like a Shrade i have. wonder if both were made by Shrade?
both have similar bone scales and sabre ground blade.
