I got my first ka-bar Becker knife about a year ago and got a bk2. When I first got it I fell in love :) the first day I got a big tree and split the entire thing alone, took me most of the day. After a while I started to hate the thick edge, thick tip, and short blade. Later on I bought a bk9 and loved it (still do) but today I started to look at my knives and grabbed my bk2, I've taken the coating off and polished it a little. After holding for a while I started loving it again, now I'm going to go out tomorrow and split tons of wood and work on a natural patina. Later on I'll buy micarta scales for it and a nice leather sheath. Thanks for reading, I highly recommend the bk2 and the bk9 highly, up next the bk7 :)

The BK2 has that effect on a few of us. It's a great, solid design. I can put one down, but always come back around to liking it. Welcome back.

Glad to hear that you found your way back.
If you want or need a combat knife, the BK7 will certainly suffice. But if you want an all around woods knife you might want to check out the tweeners. My favorite is the BK16. It's the perfect size for belt carry and will do everything that your 9 seems a little too big to handle.

YMMV

Thanks guys I'm working on becoming a becker head. I love how simple becker knives are. A slab of carbon steel, two handle slabs, and three screws :) the bk9 is such an amazing chopper, it has a long blade, thin edge, and is lightweight :) I would love to see ESEE and Becker do more collaborations, the eskabar is sweet

Not sure how much time you spend in the kitchen, but you should also check out their kitchen knives.

I didn't know they had kitchen knives, I know ESEE does. I always use my edc knives in the kitchen, I've been using my Emerson horseman haha

I ordered the 2 and the 9 at the same time and have been a fan for a few years now. The thickness somewhat hinders it's practical usefulness but also makes it nearly indestructible. I consider it to be a true "survival knife" because I know I could abuse it in a life-and-death situation and it won't fail.

The BK7 is also great. It's my most recent Becker after the 16 and 10 and a couple 14's. I really wasn't sure I even wanted it but I went ahead anyway and I'm glad I did. To be totally honest I'm still not sure I have a place for it in my lineup but it sure is a heck of a knife.

Yep, in my mind a true survival knife is something that is bomb proof. All though the bk9 out chops the bk2 by miles, I feel like I can hammer the bk2 into a tree and stand on it. I trust my bk2 with my like. My next kabar is going to be a eskabar :) I also trust my bk9 with my life, not as much as the bk2 though. The bk9 is such an amazing chopper also, all great knives. Lots of respect to Mr. Becker and Ka-bar.

I'm with Cr4ze_w0lfe. I am one of those people that wants a tool that will not fail and is bomb proof. If I have to grab one knife, and one knife only, it'll be the BK2. It does everything I ask and won't fail me. Glad to see you come back to your original love.
