Finally got one of these stunning pieces..........lost for words.......not just the quality of it, but that it was one of the very last complete knives Rob made.

Was over for the KGSA Show and went down to Port Elizabeth to pick up from Rob's wife.

The more I handle this beauty, the more I realise how wonderful it is.

It makes me very melancholy to see this knife. Rob was such a force in South African knife making and he influenced a whole generation of makers. He will be very missed.

To think that there will be no more of his amazing work makes me very sad. But I am glad that this last one went to a good home.

Enjoy!:)

Rob did Loveless styles as well as anyone, congratulations. I had several over the years, still have a Chute.

Yeah. I was stunned a month ago when I heard this sad news. I posted a note and photo of mine on Instagram from a close friend who notified me.

Your knife is exemplary. What a wonderful tribute! :)

Thank you.

Jim I am so sorry that you never had the chance to meet Rob. Apart from knife making his other passion was photography. He loved it and like you, he had the eye for it.

He was planning to attend Blade next year were I am sure he would have called on you for a chat. You would have gotten on so well, he was a real gentleman.

If you have any of your pictures of his work please post them. I am sure I speak for many when I say that we would love to see them.

All the best.......Steven

- thank you, sir

Yes, indeed, very sad. He was much admired and loved figure in SA knifemaking, and as you know, Steven Lewis paid a wonderful tribute to him......he was a very giving man and maker.

Rob's legacy, at a minimum, is that he mentored 5 excellent makers in SA, four of whom reside in PE his town...........I think we'll see great things from those guys in the years to come.

Rob's work was exemplary. I still cherish the knives he made for me a few years ago. Sorry I never had the opportunity to meet him...

Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece Chui
