So i wanted to own the one knife i know i could never own, the loveless dixon. So a couple of calls here and there plus a few emails and one week later i received this piece of paper from jim merrit
.
I figured this weekend i'd be locked in with snow storm nemo and get started on this. So here it goes, Put the template on a piece of poplar with a couple of alterations on 1/4 thickness poplar. Soon im going to make another template out of something plastic or plexi glass.
I had some 440c laying around, i cut 440c and grinded the profile.
hollow Grinded, tapered, and grinded the ricasso smooth
Used 416 1/4 thickness for guard, This was surprising to me but i actually enjoyed doing the file work of the guard but soon became disappointed when i broke the drill bit in the guard. I figured i would fill in the rest with solder and just pin the the other side properly which i did.
thats all for now folks, i should have more work done following this week. I'm aware more of you guys could of had this done in a day but i had to deal with a couple of emergencies during the storm. (family members trapped in snow with no heat or water so it kinda postponed my progress
) Also this is my first time ever doing a knife like this or doing a wip in general.
