Who currently makes versions of the classic Loveless Drop Point Hunter fixed blade knife originated by Bob Loveless?
I know Bark River has a version true to the classic with a 3.75" blade of A-2 steel and Canvas Micarta scales under $200. That would seem to make a good user?
There's also the Dozier Loveless Design Drop Point Hunter with a 3.625" CTS40CP steel blade for about $1K and lead time of several months.
There are also versions by Chad Nell and many others. Not looking for just sources but a little detail on them as best you know it.
I know the originals are insanely expensive as well as beautiful. If I had an original, much to Bob's chagrin, I probably wouldn't use it. Sorry, Bob, wherever you are.
A blade length of 3.5"-4" full tang premium steel blade and Micarta scales will be just fine. Have not decided on how much to spend. Would appreciate lead times that you are aware of.
Any guidance for sources and historical context is appreciated. That Sports Illustrated article about Bob started it for me so I'd like to read more.
