Well, for all you CA knifemakers who are not yet members of Cal Knives, here is one major new reason to join up.
Bob Loveless will be hosting knifemaking clinics in his shop on a regular basis for Cal Knives members! Thats right folks! You can now learn knifemaking basics from the legend himself. Details are not fully worked out at this time but Bob has offered up his shop for up to 12 classes over the next year.
If I seem a little excited, it is because I am. I just returned from the first Board of Directors meeting for the 2003 year. Bobs offer is nothing short of amazing and came out of the blue over dinner. The last time he opened his shop up for teaching was over ten years ago.
The only catch is that you MUST be a Cal Knives member before you can step foot inside. That is not my rule but was set down by the members of the board.
Bob is now 74 and may not be making knives for too many more years so this may be the last time this happens. So, if you are serious about learning knifemaking in the stock removal method please do not let this chance pass you by!
First meeting may be as early as the end of Jan. If you would like details on becoming a Cal Knives member please e-mail me for details.
BTW. This is not limited to knifemakers. It is open to collector as well. Anyone interested in learning how a knife is made is welcome.
