Been a while since I last posted, but I thought I'd share this one with you.

This was a kind of custom order. It's basically a full size Loveless Dropped Hunter which I scaled down a bit. I do have a proper 3" pattern, but this is slightly slimmer in profile.

The handle was provided by the customer and has a bit of a story to it.

The wood is teak, and comes from a deckchair. The deckchair was from a ship which one of the family served on about 100 years ago. Over the years, the chair had become one of those things that you don't really want, but you can't bring yourself to throw out for sentimental reasons. Finally, after tripping over it in his garage for the last 50 years, the owner decided to get rid of it, but at the same time keep a bit of it 'alive' by using it on a knife as a gift for his son. He's also having an identical (or as identical as I can make it!) one made for himself, but with brass fittings.

The blade is 4mm AEB-L with a 10" hollow grind which was heat treated to 62RC by Clarke Knives. I've been using a knife with the same steel and hardness at work since May, and I've got to say that I'm impressed at how well AEB-L performs.

The liners are 0.5mm G10 on a tapered tang.

As always, thanks for taking the time to look.

The knife is awesome, but your photographic composition really makes it excel.
Thank you VERY much! That comment has made my day!

That's an absolute first for me, as I've always struggled with photos...mainly because I've never been particularly interested in it.

Earlier this year I bought a new light box with built in dimmable lights which has made things a lot easier.

I'm still experimenting with different coloured back drops, but after reading your comment, I think I'll stick with this one.

Cheers,

Ian.
