A while back I was contacted by a customer about doing a Loveless style knife. He had a pic of a Loveless "Straight" Hunter that we both thought would make a good project. Here's the knife we ended up with based on that pic. It's done in 154 cpm stainless with a blade length of just over 4", a tapered tang and ivory micarta handles with red liners.

and here's the original Loveless piece

Nady_ice, I originally started making the occasional Loveless style knife just to see how well I could duplicate one. A "skill check" as I call it.

As you develop your ability try making the same knife periodically to measure your improvement. I find it a more definitive test than making knives of your own design.

Good luck.

d.crawford-

thanks for the encouraging words.

i look forward to seeing more of your work

Every time I look at this knife, I am drawn to the fact ,you miss the handle shaping. Look on the Loveless in the area of his last rivet. You see a depression he filed or ground into the handle for your little finger to lay in.
Everyone or almost everyone misses the indentation. If you haveit it makes the handle so much more comfortable to grip than a flat surface from heel to guard.
You have a nice knife but you could make it great.

well stop looking at it if it disagrees with you :) without a photo of the spine or belly, it is not possible to tell if it has the slimmed "waist" or not.
