I picked up a copy of "Living on the Edge" and have been reading up on Bob Loveless and his knives.
His Bauhaus philosophy of form follows function appeals to me and I realized that the very first knife I ever bought (many years ago) was a Loveless Drop Point style hunter.
With the prices that his knives command I thought it would be a good start to buy a Loveless "clone" instead. But I am interested in a high quality user knife like Bob set out to create rather then a lower quality imitation that looks okay but may not perform well.
With these parameters in mind which knife makers should I be investigating for who are preserving and extending the Loveless approach?
Jim Merritt and Michael Lovett would seem the easy answer but their prices appear to be in Loveless territory.
Any other suggestions?
