This will be my third blade I've finished and like the other two it started as 3/16 1084 from aldo. I attempted to taper the tang on my 1x30 and give it nice distall taper. The tapering came out ok except the blade looks slightly bent. Hard to even notice. I used some flattened copper tubing for spacers. I got the handle wood from a guy in my local blacksmith club he called it zebra wood. I'm thinking of finishing it with tru oil but I'm still debating because I do not want to darken the wood. As of now it has no finish only sanded to 1500grit. I think it looks a little funny without bolsters but all in all I'm happy with how it turned out.

Im excited about this one as it will be my first knife I've given away. A few weeks ago I went with my girlfriend to visit her uncle and we put a few rounds through his ruger superhawk. He saw how much I liked it and offered to let me take it back to savannah for a little while. Being it was the first time I had met the guy I was taken a back by his generosity. I figured it was the least I could do. So when he gets his gun back he will also get thiIMAG0304.jpgIMAG0303.jpgIMAG0302.jpgIMAG0305.jpgIMAG0306.jpgs knife

Anyways hope you like it . Comments are welcome. Thanks.

I like it. it is really pretty nice looking. You are right, though. It does look different without bolsters.

Very nice work for an up and comer. I'm sure your uncle will be pleased with your knife gift - I occasionally give a knife away to nice folks - it's the better side of knifemaking that represents the community well. Keep up the good work.

Regards,

TK
