It's great to be alive I tell ya! Got my first Swamp Rat knife the other day and a beautiful sheath to go with it! I was in desperate need of a new backpacking/camp knife and after much thought I decided on the RatManDu over the ESEE-6. Couldn't be happier with my choice and even though I have yet to try her out, I can tell she's gonna be a hardcore user.

As for the sheath, WOW, I am super impressed. I contacted Eric Lind at Mashed Cat Outfitters about making me a custom sheath that could accomodate a Maxpedition magazine pouch. Boy, did he deliver. The craftmanship on this thing is superb and holds the magazine pouch very secure. Having at least a multi-tool and a firesteel to go along with my blade is a must for me when I'm out in the woods and this set-up is perfect! Thanks Eric!

And another thumbs up ta boot!

Excellent choice my friend! I like using my Swamp Rats as much as my Busses; maybe even more

Put a thin convex edge on her, and you won't have to sharpen her until 2012!

Nice rig! CongRats! :D

Agreed, SR101 holds an edge like crazy, wicked slicers. :)

Thanks for all the great comments. Now I just need to get out there so I can post pictures of the damn knife in actual use!

Great setup (and very nice Python )! This summer, a buddy lent me one of his kydex sheaths with a nylon pouch attached. He sewed the pouch himself and attached it top the kydex with copper rivets. It was an extremely sweet rig and proved very practical on a long hike. I'd like to reverse-engineer a similar solution, but looking for simpler methods.

Do you have any pics that show how the mag pouch is attached to your sheath?

I got my RMD around 6 months ago. I loved the steel so much I had a custom maker forge me a 10" chopper from it.

RMD is a fantastic knife. You made a good choice.

Nice choice. And nice Python. Wish I could find a reasonable 4" blued one in Mass. (They are not "compliant" which means only guns already IN the state can be sold here. Prices run about 25% above normal asking.)

That's a nice bit of sheath work. Can we get some shots of the back and also the plate for attaching the mag pouch? I'd love to set up one of mine like that.
