I searched but did'nt see a thread dedicated to the Leuku. Feel free to add your pics here.

I received this knife from Andy just before Christmas. It came at the perfect time as i practically gave my buddy my Camp Muk. He was persistent & we were about 3 or 9 beers into the evening.

Anyway,
I love this thing. Every time i handle one i always think to myself...."self, i gotta get one of these!!" but as the world turns and hundreds of Fiddlebacks cross my desk every month... something else always come up before i pull the trigger on one. Thank you Andy!

This is as much use as it has seen. It just got an edge on it Monday. It does have a spot in my computer bag so it will get much more use.

I would like to see others pics or hear everyone's thoughts regarding the Leuku. Thanks!

The Leuku is one of my favorites. I love having this one on my belt in the woods. Feels like it could handle anything thrown at it but doesn't feel bulky or big. Congrats on finally picking one up. It's a beauty.

Thanks!

Im thinking that for a belt knife i would be more inclined to use one of my hiking buddies or BC JR more likely. In my mind the Leuku is more of a "pack knife". Although, it does seem less obtrusive or bulky & big like you said than my Camp Muk. It might fit in the role of a belt knife better than i originally thought.

Thanks for the input

I had Rick Lowe make one of his outstanding cross draw sheaths for it. Carries fantastic on that cant vs vertical. Please pardon the horrible phone pic.

edit...
these pics are live from my kitchen and terrible too...no worries necro

Reminds me of Ken! He did really great work with bolsters. The sunburst BC comes to mind as well.

Leuku and RMD

All of the examples so far have been sweet. I really dig the Leuku family and other traditional models with a twist.

thanks Phil
after revisting your review i can see why the Leuku seems less obtrusive than my old camp muk. It weighs almost 1/4lb less

Phillip, that’s a very nice gift from Andy! Welcome to the Leuku club.

I did my first knife review on the original Fiddleback Leuku back in April 2014. I loved this model back then and I still do. My only recommendation for improvement on that knife was a tapered tang instead of SFT for more neutral balance.

Here are a few photos of that knife and a link to my review:

The original Leuku in an old group photo of my collection. It is funny to look back now and realize that I only still own two of those eleven knives.

A few months later, another one came up on a Friday in Emerald burlap and tapered tang 5/32” O1. I jumped on it as a replacement for my Ruby one. With the tapered tang and full height grind, this knife weighs a light 5.8 ounces for its size and balances right behind the first set of pins. This is one of a small handful of Fiddlebacks I have that I consider “perfect”, meaning I wouldn’t change a thing if the knife had to be re-made. (Note: This is the knife that Phillip “M4Super90” was referring to in his post above.)

Here is an old photo with the Leuku alongside some of the other larger models (L to R: Camp Knike, Duke, Big Sneaky, Camp Nessie & Leuku.) The Leuku should be the lightest and most nimble feeling of this group if you stick with tapered 5/32” steel. If you want 3/16” steel, I recommend that you move up to the taller Duke or Camp Knife. 3/16” steel is just overkill for a Leuku in my opinion.

The Leuku is a great all-around knife. It is nice to see it getting some notoriety again.

Thanks, Phil. This one is 5/32" TT.

Im off today and was looking forward to getting out and using this thing. Mother Nature has other plans. We have had 12+ inches of rain this month with more to come today. My backyard is more of a back bog. :thumbdn:
