Hello

I am looking for a recomendation for a knifemaker that could make a Loveless style chute knife and sheath.

I saw the obivous in Gilbert Norfleet and tried to go with him as his work looks excellent and at a fair price, but ran into the same issues that many others expirenced with him.

Knifemakers please feel free to chime in. Pictures would be great

Thanks
Eddie

Mike Lovett makes a wonderful chute knife and would be my first choice, but is about eight years out on delivery. Charles Vestal makes a nice one and can deliver in a reasonable amount of time, a very reputable person as well.

Attached are some pictures of my chute knives. The three knives and sheaths are made for alligator hunting. The tips on previous manufactured knives were breaking off when we stabbed the alligators in the back of the head so I decided to make my own with a much beefier point.

The other pictures are of two knives that I just donated to the U.S. Navy Surface Rescue Swimmer School Instructor of the Year and Sailor of the Year here in Jacksonville, FL. They have carbon fiber handles with red liners.

All my knives come with a kydex sheath made by me. The steel is 440C SS heat-treated by me and the blades are flat ground. I can have one done in two weeks (depending on the handle material) and will change the design or materials to suit your need or desire. The base price of the knife and sheath is $125 + shipping. Exotic woods or bolsters will cost additional. Email me if you are interested - ron (at) HogWildCustomKnives (dot) com. You can see pictures of some of my other knives at http://HogWildCustomKnives.com.

Check with Black Toe knives over in the Makers forums, he makes a nice one real cheap and very little wait. You can find him in the Fixed Blades for sale forum.

Dan Crotts. Excellent fit and finish and short waiting time. Also works at Dozier's I believe.

Semi custom, but take a look at Bark River. They have a chute knife, called the Sandstorm, and take a look at the lil Chute Knife from them.
