I'm looking for a decent but low cost waki sheath. Can you give a link or some names? Thanks.

What material are you looking at? Kydex or leather?

How low cost are you thinkin'?

A great blade like that deserves a quality sheath. I'm having a custom, inlayed sheath made.

Check with Mashed Cat or Steel Nut. Might be closest to your price. Don't think you'll find a leather sheath near the price range.

Let us know what you decide on.

Good luck.

I think the only way you're finding one that cheap for a waki is if you DIY it. Mine cost me maybe 20 bucks in material, but it's ugly as sin.

Wow,to be honest,I was actually blown away when I saw at Swamp Rat shop listing a Brown Kydex sheath at $100 a piece when a few weeks earlier they were $90.It's serious looking to be a DIY project.

Don't have any pics of mine but I went to Home Depot, bought some plastic pipe about a meter long and then cut it to a bit longer than my Waki. Next I chucked it in the oven and when it started to get nice and soft took it, put my Waki in it and pressed it between some foam and wood. (Just stood on the lot for a few minutes). My sheath is no looker but for under $5 and 15mins of work then I can live with that.

If I can find my camera cable I'll get a pic of it for you. I do still plan on upgrading this very basic sheath by adding a paracord wrap to the top and bottom to allow for attachment. I've even toyed with the idea of some inner tube going on the sheath. Don't know why but I reckon it would come in handy for something.

You must have a large oven.

I've always been amazed that folks will drop $300, $400 or more on a knife, but aren't willing to spend a few bucks on a nice sheath  I just upacked my Waki and will be getting in touch with D. Brown in the next few days to make my sheath.

I just figured on an extra $100 for the sheath when I placed my order for the Waki. It really doesn't cost that much more to do it right, so why not. If I couldn't afford to buy a nice sheath to hold my $450+ Waki...maybe I shouldn't have placed my order in the first place

Well, the Waki is a bit of a special case isnt it?

I kind of doubt that very many people are going to be wearing these on their belt for extended periods of time. I only need something that will securely cover the blade while in a truck or in a pack. I am no ninja.

Some people think that it is crazy to spend 3-500 dollars on a sword just to go out and smack it against a tree. I dont care what they think either.

For what it is worth, a machete will do most everything that a Waki will do, and many of those come with sheaths. (However, they are in NO WAY as cool as a Waki. :D)

I'd expect very good things out of your BB sheath. He does nice work!

Since when is 100 usd a few bucks? BTW I will contact SWKW and tell them to make sure they don't sell to anyone not intending to carry it a nice sheath because you have spoken on the matter.

It isn't so confusing or complicated to me. I'm going to be beating the crap out of the waki that Im already going to pay a shit load of money for.I'm not going to be displaying on my wall or trying to show it off to people. I personally am not that in to fancy sheaths so I'm not trying to drop another 100 that could go towards a knife.

Since I already dropped $450 on the Waki, I'd consider another $100 towards a sheath...just a few bucks. I'm sure SMKW would appreciate my feedback, so thanks for getting it to them ;)

I'm planning to use mine too, but I ain't gonna carry it around in a POS sheath. Like they say...Different strokes

If the edge is sufficiently protected and the sheath retention is good, why is it a POS, regardless of what it costs?

Boo hoo, my DIY sheath is a POS, I've insulted my great and wonderful waki by placing it in such a low quality, homemade piece of junk, which both protects the blade and retains it well, while protecting me and those around me from accidental slicing.

I guess my belt sander sharpened edges make my knives POS'es too, because they don't look pretty, and just give hair popping edges which actually improve the knife's function
