hey everyone, do you think a maxpedition thermite versipack is low profile enough while traveling through the city? i just dont want to pop out as a "doomsday prepper" or a guy that you might want to rob.

thigh rig setup? that sticks out no matter where you are, even on a civilian gun range. get a jansport backpack in green or blue, toss it in the dirt a little/flat brown spray paint a little here and there (you're going for that i'm a part-time painter/handyman look) and it's good to go. keep a black garbage bag inside and when it's time, put the whole pack in and carry it one-handed as if it was garbage/recycled cans inside and start talking to yourself when shtf - that'll work. i've been in nyc enough to know acting crazy will make people look away from you :p

No I don't. Screams "concealed weapon" to me. Agree with JV3 on a low profile Jansport or similar.

Most people would be running around with their stuff in plastic grocery bags and shitty kmart high school backpacks. Anything nicer than that could be a target for robbery.

For getting out of the city, I would (and do) use a Maxpedition Larkspur messenger bag. It looks like all the yuppy bags I see, no different because of the big flap that covers the entire bag. Also, it can be brought around in front of you limiting who sees it.

Yep. Big city, a messenger bag won't stand out. A camping backpack will.

I have a thermite that I use often. No one has ever said anything to me and I have never noticed anyone eyeballing it either...

I should say that I have taken the leg strap off and use it pretty much like a "fanny" or "hip" bag...
