Low Rider Clip for Benchmade 805 TSEK

Hi, Steve. I'd love a low rider clip for my 805 TSEK.

It uses the same Benchmade clip as many of the Benchmades like the Mini-Grip and 710 (I've swapped clips between them).

Here's a concept image of what I'm looking for.

Would like it to be as slim as possible, I'd like it to be a pen-like clip with the Blue Anodize (would match nicely with the blue barrel back spacers). The 805 TSEK is quite slim and lightweight, I think it would match nicely.

I measure about 18.9mm from the center of the two screws perpenticular to the clip to the top edge of the handle/scales.

Here's a pic of the original shiny, "LOOK AT ME! I'M A KNIFE!" Pocket Clip. :barf:

Thanks for all the info laid out for me first post. Much appreciated.

Ed I think your concept is doable but I think you are taking the clip up a bit high. I'd recommend it fold over at the spot just flush or right before the clip fold over would be off hanging the spine. Thats how I'd do it but it could be done either way.

I always recommend that the clip not overhang the spine. Sometimes the off hanging part of the clip can be felt readily in the palm during use and there are some that do not want that or to notice the clip that much. Low riders stand up a bit anyways so you don't want to compound it by putting something over the end. However, with that said, its not as noticed on bigger knives with ample handle. If it overhangs off the very end of the knife its not so bad and by some standards even expected so it buries the knife. I tend to go for flush and if its over a little well, thats okay also. If under I'm most always redoing the clip and setting the other one in the bag o`rejects. But what trumps this is when the first place the clip would overhang is actually at the spine area instead of the very end as in the case of this knife. I hope you follow that.

Good points to consider. The handle/scales are quite long, and my hand size is medium, so my palm does not come close the bottom area. It would be felt by my hand if I were holding it at the back (opposite of choking up).

I guess I could go with tip down carry, since the mounting holes are much closer to the top of the handle/scales, but I'm not a big fan of tip down, since the pocket clip often gets in the way of the axis lock. Although your slimmer clip would be a lot better than the stock BM clip.

Hmmm. How about both options? One would be for Tip Down Carry, and the fold over would be the tightest you can make it, since it will over hang the top of the handle/scales either way.

And then the other would be for Tip Up Carry (as pictured above). Either way, I'd like somewhat deep pocket carry for concealment.

So I'd like 2 clips in all. The one I don't end up liking as much will end up being a gift for a friend of mine who also has an 805 TSEK. :)

No problem for me to do them. I'll have those done and ready to ship by noon tomorrow. They may be started this afternoon if I get a second wind and end up back in the shop. I would ask that you visit here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...w-Rider-Pocket-Clip-info-mailing-instructions and at least get me the info. on my work order form and you can just email that info to me. STR@bladeforums.com which is also my pay pal address. Thanks man!:D

Clips arrived safe and sound today. Wow, they're so small and thin. They really disappear.

Here's some pics.

Even though it sticks out past the spine, the Deep Carry Low Rider does not even come close to touching my palm in either left or right hand.

Only downside to the small clip is that it's more flexible and moves side to side, which will cause wear and rub marks on the G10 Scale of the 805 TSEK, but this knife is a user, so no worries there.

Thanks so much Steve, you really matched my Photoshop concept very closely. :)

Thanks. Not too bad considering I didn't have the knives here. Looks like the blue matches pretty well to the stand offs in the folder also. Enjoy.
