Hi Steve.

I'm tired of my mini cyclone sticking halfway out of my pocket. I'd like a low rider clip, right hand, tip down. Do you need the knife for that?

What's new with the move? Found anything?

Regards,
Fred

Fred, sorry man. I don't know how I missed your post here. My apologies my friend. Yes I'm afraid on that one I would need the knife. Rarely get asked to do one for that model.

I think you know the routine. Again my apologies for missing you. Unintentional I assure you.

Got frustrated and gave up on the move for now. We just could not find anything that suited us and I never really liked the idea of selling right now in this market anyway so for now its all off and we're staying put. Thanks for asking though.

You know Fred. I think I have some of the clips for that knife now that I think about it. I can check in the morning but I'm pretty sure I have some that I could use as a template. I'd just need to know where to make the fold over for the clip to mount close as possible to make it look right for the mode of carry you want. I'd need you to measure from the spot you put the driver to remove a screw to the end of the folder where I would need to make the 180 fold so we can mate it up flush or close for you. Give me that from the lower of the two screws looking down on the clip in mm and I should be able to fix you up without needing the knife after all.

Yep. That should be all I need. The only thing I need to be sure of is that I have that clip still. I forgot to check that today in the shop. I used to have a bunch so hopefully there is still a baggy full out there. I'll let you know soon. Thanks

No problem. I do have the clip but the problem is I need to know if that is the model number 1630 or 1635 that you have there Fred. I have both so I want to be sure. I suspect 1635 but need to be 100% so let me know.

Thanks

Clip arrived today and (as usual) the bend is in exactly the right place and the clip tension is exactly right.

Do you think you will ever make scales again? I have a Spyderco R2 crying out for new scales.

I really don't think I will Fred. I know I had your knife a while and I thought it was copied but the fact of the matter is it was not copied at all and I just thought it was. I've quit doing a lot of things I used to offer. For me the only thing I'm interested in focusing on right now are the clips, pry bars, my own custom folders and some other odd ball smaller jobs I can get in and out of here pretty quickly for folks.

Curt is a member here and a friend of mine I have been referring to for scales. Look for a PM shortly with his contact info.
