Recommendation? Lower cost contact wheel quality?

Around 3 1/2 months ago I received a 10" Beaumont contact wheel with my grinder that wasn't true and thus caused the grinder to shake and rattle all over the place. It's been extremely slow going with the grinder maker trying to get a replacement for the wheel. One was supposedly shipped to me back on August 22...

I finally get a reply to my questions of it's whereabouts this morning stating that the replacement wheel has evidently been lost in the mail, and yet another one would have to be ordered from Beaumont and sent to me.

So... I'm really tired of waiting and looking to get another wheel here quickly. I was going to get another 10" contact wheel and sell one or the other when the replacement finally gets here, but have decided to just go ahead and get an additional 12" wheel to add to my arsenal.

I don't really want to spend upwards of $400 on one and have found some relatively cheaper options. I'm sure others might have these and can chime in on their likes or dislikes. The first one is from AMK, whose name I hear thrown around on here every now and then...

And the second is from a company I'm not too familiar with AmeriBrade...

I'd appreciate any feedback on these if you have used them, or if anyone has other suggestions that are in that ballpark price-wise please do chime in. Thank you much.

Do yourself a favor and go right to the source. https://lpaladin.aliexpress.com/store/715198 I would not be suprised if Ameribrade gets theres here, since thy state they are not American made. i have a 6 inch and 12 inch smooth, they are awesome. just have them bore it for their 6202 bearings but DON'T have them installed. then get yourself some 6202-1/2" bearings (do a web search, they are easy to find) and you can use a 1/2" axle bolt. Good luck.

That's a killer deal, but I've had issues trying to order from Aliexpress and getting verified by their system in the past. I'm pretty sure you need to have an account with them to order this guy...

I guess I could give it another shot should I decide to go with this one though. Thank you very much for the suggestions Kevin.

I have an account, but it's pretty much email and create password. I had no issue buying from them. Your CC company may tag the transaction, since it's foreign, but I had no issues.

There is a place that will true and balance contact wheels. I had a 14" that did not run smooth. I sent it off and this place did a great job. It now runs smooth.
The bad news is I can't remember the name of the place that does this. Maybe someone on this forum will remember who does this work.

I can't remember if it was Aliexpress, or Alibaba, but about a year ago I was required to send in a copy of my driver's license and I think a proof of residency. I'll definitely try to make another account here in a bit though. Hopefully I won't have to jump through any hoops this time.

Thanks Tom. I have thought about getting the wheel trued up, but the fact is that I ordered a wheel and received a defective unit, so I'm due a replacement. I'm sure the maker of the grinder will get one to me eventually, but I've been down a few months now and really want to get back to grinding. I like the idea of having a 12" wheel to go with the 10", so definitely going to go that route. Take care.

There is a guy on eBay called treestandman he sells some of the best quality contact wheels. He balances them himself and I have 6"-14" wheels from him.

Yes treestandman's wheels are excellent as well. I've got wheels from Ameribrade, Aliexpress, treestandman and my original 10" wheel was from Grizzly.

I just ordered that wheel - I've been wanting a 12" contact wheel.

Geoff, you are saying your experience with Beaumont was good?

Kevin, why did you order the bearings separate from wheel? For $5 extra I had them to install the bearings.

The bearing they will install has a 15mm bore. I like to keep as much uniformity of parts as I can, and all my other wheels use a 1/2" axle.

To use those bearings you'll need a 15mm bolt and tool arm threaded for it. Or, if you have a lathe, you can turn a 5/8 bolt to fit without losing enough thread engagement to matter, which is what I did.
