Hi
I am not selling anything yet and not in this thread. If You were to sell a used knife how low would you go? For example say you bought it new for $500 is a 25% markdown fair? I ask this because its hard to get a feel of what is fair and at what point you are losing money.
thanks

The price depends on many factors; not just how much you paid for it initially. You have to look at the condition of the knife, how readily available it is (supply), if anyone actually wants it (demand), and how much you think the knife is worth/how much you're willing to let the knife go for.
Hope this helps.

You can always watch here on the exchange and eBay and get a good idea of what a knife is bringing at the moment.

If it is a common knife, go look at the closed sales on feeBay. That will list the latest closing prices of what people were willing to pay.

the proceeds are going to be used to buy a Kimber pistol (which I REALLY want). The knives are in new to excellent condition.

It really depends on the knife. I see good discounts here for most production knives, but then I see used Sebenzas sell with barely any price reduction percentage-wise.

lol +1...I've been looking for a used Sebbie on the forums for a few weeks now and eventually I just decided to go for a new one!

I think some have to sell their knives to cover emergencies, or cover the cost of other knives that they already purchased and are in transit. I believe those folks (myself included from time to time in this) may be a little more willing to reduce quicker in order to assure themselves of a quick sale, since these funds have been committed elsewhere.

Those that are tired of the knife or just want to thin their herd can afford to start a little higher and maybe not reduce the price as much.

I think you just have to be realistic and ask yourself "what would I be willing to pay for this knife in this condition".
