I have never seen 2 more beautifully constructed knives in my life..absolute mint..even I put on gloves to inspect <had to explain to my wife when she caught me wearing her gloves!>
These 2 Herman Williams 'off the conference room wall' knives have an aura about them and Schrade should have been justifiably proud to produce such a magnificent set.......hang on.... under the old timer it says under licence to Taylor...only joking! THey actually look better ,even than those photos of your Something Special on your Fantastic Site.
Will try and post photos together with some other "off the walls" folders...
I realize I'm only the custodian of these quite historic knives which really belong to all who cherish all things Schrade.... Hoo Roo

Excellent, My feelings exactly on the custodianship.
I will look for those photos.

G'Day Larry, I will send those photos direct to you mate to do as you wish.
I find it interesting to note that 2 of the most significant knives ever produced by Schrade the forerunners to 'The Old Timer 'line, being the pristine 2OT and 3OT Old Timer, that were owned by Herman Williams and were flagship displays in the Schrade 'inner sanctum'..these actual knives that would undoubtedly have been seen and perhaps handled by the very Schrade people whose stories illuminate many pages in this forum archives......and one so rare being the 3OT that is quoted by LT in AAPK forum when referring to this actual knive as being listed in Sargents 1 & 2 and 25 made and never produced and followed by comment by Schrade Chief Customiser Herman Williams that "not more than a dozen were ever produced" ....and these 2 knives now sit in the original casing in my home and I announce as a forum member that they have arrived and are now part of our very community and are actullay displayed on Larrys Site under "Something Special".....

and the point of all this is it rates 72 readers only and one comment only by lrv in acknowledgement..........if Aunt Molly has given a rusty knife to her nephew who has no idea what it is it will draw 200 responses immediately on this forum.....
Do I detect Codger is posting less on this forum? I'm propably more guilty than most in getting "off subject" however I now throw in the ring if we should not now be getting back to what lrv and Codger have been trying to establish which is a "Shrine" if you will to all things Schrade and pertaining to Companies associated with Schrade...and why and what they produced and how and why they came to the dreadful end . I dont know if we will ever draw positive inputs from the real people involved once they feel like talking unless we are receptive and sensitive to what they offer.
Now all do your worst on me for these comments which is only intended to follow on from Coudgers recent remarks alluding to what we all want and expect from this forum? Are you still there Codger?? Regards to all and Hoo Roo.... Larry 303.

OK, been there before. Just didn't know it by its other name. Checked out the 2 and 3......they sure are beauties. I'll bet they look better in person.

Larry,

I think those are two of the finest looking knives Schrade ever made. I never even knew they made a 3OT at all. Thanks for sharing those pics with us all, sure is a once in a lifetime thing to see those two together.

Don't read too much into my frequency or infrequeny of posting. I have 4,561 posts, and maybe I am waiting for some of you to catch up. And sometimes, as much as we would like to live here, real life gets in the way. I do have three grown children, two teens at home, five grandchildren, an aged mother, and a brother, and our construction season is underway. Also, as many of you know, I have been working on a Schrade book. I am surrounded by filing cabinets filled with files. lrv can attest to this. He has waded through most of it also. So for many months, I have lived and breathed Schrade as few others here have. Sometimes I need a break. A break from the subject and the writing.

One can only discuss Antee Molly's and Uncle Bo's knives so much before sounding redundent. In fact, most knives Schrade made are discussed and archived here. Quite often in the past, I've had my posts, like you Larry, seemingly ignored. Don't let it bug you. SOmetimes folks either don't feel they have anything to add to what has been said, or just have different collector interests and aren't attracted to the topic de jour.

Or the fact that we often wander 'off-topic'. Some of our best threads take on the tone of normal human conversation, not topic specific text from a book.

As to the "unique significance" of some knives, I agree those two are, however, there are thousands of Schrades, Ulsters, Imperials which have unique historical significance. Many of those knives once graced the walls in the ISC offices. Many did not. I think most of us here have some unique examples, folding or fixed, embelished or plain. Thankfully, while those knives have been dispursed around the globe, irv has been building his site and preserving the pictures of them that collectors have generously provided. I hope that everyone will continue to contribute those pictures for everyone's reference. The pity is the ones that have dissapeared forever without a trace.

Well Larry, they are definitely something special and I'm sure I would be proud to own them. I'm glad to see they have a good home and a place in history at the Collectors of Schrades website.

If you could just get the pictures in the thread it would have a profound effect.

Very nice, congratulations on your purchase. If you want any others up there just e-mail.
Thanks Rick

Rick,
I can get the pictures from the web site to display here in the threads but thought Bryan would appreciate me not using up all his bandwidth.
If you want me to start displaying the pictures here let me know and I'll pop in a couple teasers. :-)
Larry's knives are beauties. Jealous I am.

....I 'm so proud of them I cant stand myself!I have handled quite a few Schrades old and new in my time however I cant believe the weight, quality of workmanship and materials that went into these knives,it was as if the cutlers art peaked around 1959. Perhaps the project was left in the most experienced cutlers hands..one day the stories will emerge & how I would love one of "The OLD Timers"" to come on this forum and give us a first hand insight to their craft.Like all of us I have other old knives but what is it that draws you to a Schrade like no other?
Finally got a Schrade Kious today...have been waiting for one to bob up for ages,1000 reputably made but how often do you see these Damascus beauties?
lrv...I have been neglecting my wife for the past week reading that material you gave me mate... absolutely mesmerising.Told her you're to blame!
Many thanks for your posts now I feel like a heel!!!!! Hoo Roo

My apologies Larry (lrv), I hope you didn't think I was questioning your technical skills, it just seemed like Larry303 was wondering why these beauties didn't generate more interest and I thought the pics would help. I guess it's easy to forget about the amount of bandwidth that full sized pictures use.

Rick, No problem I was funn-ing anyways.

Us techies have weird senses of humor any-how..
I posted a couple commeratives on the other thread today.
I suggest those whom want to see more go the the web site.

Most folks just dont realize how unusual Larry's 2 knives are.

I didnt realize till recently Larry was not using a DSL or cable connection. I'll gladly post any pictures he or anyone else would like shown. Just let me know.

I've just gotten 2 additions for my web site from BF collectors I'll let you all know when I post them too.

Some really great stuff coming soon.
