I was lucky enough to score one of the last lightning strike carbon fiber scales for my Umnumzaan from Barry H. I'm rather pleased with this mod to say the least. He did a good job of matching the original scale in shape and got all the holes in the right place, job done. :p:thumbup:

Here are few pics of said item.......

That and the natural g10 scale have to be the two best umnum scales I've seen. I really like that LS!

wow, that is nice Haze. Do these mods change the performance of the knife? I mean is the smooth action and quality still there?

Thanks much folks, it is a nice thing !

The function of the knife is unchanged, it feels lighter and makes a different sound when opened but other than that it's all good. :)

I was lucky enough to score one of these from Barry as well and let me tell you pictures can't do it justice. It's my favorite custom scale job I've gotten so far.

Well, lets see some pics any way ! :p:thumbup:

How much lighter does that scale make the umnum. I bet its alot considering the scales on the umnum are pretty thick.
Barry H. does such amazing work with carbon fiber. No rough edges anywhere which is hard to do with CF.

Looks completely awesome! Can you feel some of the copper wire on it that raises from the carbon fiber? It adds a little more grip:)

Is there any flex what so ever? Those scales look gorgeous.

There is no flex that can be seen or felt with hand pressure, I'm not sure how far off it would be from the original Ti scale.

The original Ti scale weighs in at 42.7g and the CF scale is 16.6g bringing the total weight down to 113.6g. That is nearly an OZ lighter (26.1g).

What did you do with the Ti scale? Still have it / use it?

I just threw it away........:D

I have a CF scale for one of my Sebenzas that I use and swap back depending on my tastes at the time. I can see the Umnumzaan being similar.

You can not feel the copper at all, it feels the same as any other carbonfiber but it looks cooler. :)

Sweet! I'm a sucker for CF and those scales are very very well done!

That carbon fiber looks sexy!!! Now talk Krein in doing a blade regrind and that would be awesome!!

Hey!! Thanks for posting Mr. Haze;) You and Mr. Shipwrecked are the last two individuals that got my remaining stock of the Lightning Strike Carbon fiber. I probably won't be able to get any more for a long time. all the major knife makers have been jumping on the bandwagon--the price I've seen lately is just Titanic.

Glad you like my work.:D
