Maybe it is just me. But I see more LT Wright knives being advertised , sold and used than Battlehorse knives. Do you think it is because of better designs, better ads, or different philosophies between LT or Dan? Nothing against Dan. Anyone else notice this?

There are places where you can go and buy an LT Wright and have it shipped out that day. Battle Horse knives all seem to have a waiting period built in. The site tells you about it, but it does put a damper on those late night impulse buys. :). Also: the 3V gap.

I have noticed that LTW uses some 3v in some of its models. Is that the 3v gap you mentioned?

I was a huge fan of Blind Horse Knives and still regularly carry a few of their knives. Since the split I still look at LT's stuff on a fairly regular basis to see if he's selling anything that will interest me but I rarely check out the new BHK's and it's mainly because I find the name Battle Horse kind of cringy.

When the patterns, cost, and quality are so similar between the companies something as silly as the name is enough to sway me.

I met L.T. before there was a Blind Horse Knives.. So our friendship thru the yrs has kept me loyal to his knives.. I have probably a dozen Blind Horse/L.T.Wright knives also.. Now.. I have nothing against Dan and his knives.. I never met him or handled any of his knives either.. And L.T.s shop is about a 45min drive from me too!! John

As both are born out of Blind Horse Knives, Im sure both are just fine.
Ive never owned a Battle Horse knife but they look just fine.
LTWs seem a bit more … accessible, as others have touched upon.
Ive bought a LTW Outback and HOLY CARP, thats a fine knife!!!
Ill gladly recommend LTW.

Both companies make great knives but for obvious reasons (we sell them), I would say get an LT Wright Knife. As a side note if they ever did an award for the nicest person in the world, I would nominate LT Wright. Nicest most gracious person I have ever met!

I have both and I think they both make knives one can count on 100%.

Lt has a better distribution game. Lots of in stock knives in lots of different steels. Default steel seems to be A2 but they have them all. They also create more exposure with their bushcraft celebs like Larry Roberts and carliegh Fairchild, etc. great knives, great people.

BHK has a really cool shop with a really cool family Aptomsphere. Default steel is good ole O1. They will use other steels but they don't have many in stock. They also have the celebs like coal cracker bushcraFt and self reliance with Canterbury.

They both have clubs, outings and great service. They are both located in the great state of Ohio. Anything you get will be an A+ tool.

I think it's easier to order custom from BHK but easier to find the knife you want in stock with LT.

Default BF answer: buy both.

Both are great companies that make great knives. As has been mentioned, LT has better distribution. With all things being equal, availability wins out.

Not that anyone cares now but I've been weighing this same question and have come to the conclusion I actually like BHK knives more. While LTs are more available I just feel like BHK does little things better like having lanyard holes in all their knives and allowing you to choose different color liners, etc. And I just like their stable of knives a little more - it's hard to find a lot of what I think are the cooler designs (Patriot scout/commanche/etc.) with LTW. But you all are right that the wait involved with getting BHK is a pain.
