hello.

i have spent a week looking for info on lt wright knives at different dealers, and online.

i have narrowed down my selection for three models.
all flat grind and a2 or 1075 hc

i like the genesis, the next gen and the bushcrafter.

do any of you members have pictures of the bushcrafter along with the next gen.
i am looking for a bushcrafter in a2 but not sure what is the diff between the bushcrafter and the next gen.

visual representation would help.

i like a2.

how is the 1075 hc from lt .

please advise.

Biggest benefits in my eyes to Lt Wright knives is 3v steel, hint hint! I only have a Genesis and not at home so I can't help you with pictures.

is 3v easy to sharpen. i sharpened 80crv2, a2, 154 cp , ars 34 and s30 v with no hassle. yet i would hear nigjtmares about s39 v.

No issues getting it sharp, doesn't hold an edge as long as s30v but is one of the toughest steels you can get (bending). I carry a ceramic rod camping and touch the blade up here and there. 3v made the knife for me, semi stainless and durable.

thanks

The biggest difference is in the handle. The next gen has a sized down genesis handle with the thumb scallops whereas the bushcrafter just has the front finger groove. The next gen's blade is also shorter.

The bushcrafter in A2 is a little bigger than the bushcrafter HC and the HC is using thinner blade stock.

Regarding 3V from LT, I personally don't think it's worth the extra cost. I really like how he does his A2 and 3V hasn't overly impressed me for smaller knives like these. It's just toughness that I'll probably never use and it is harder to sharpen than A2 or 1075. 3V should have better edge retention but A2 does quite well too given that LT runs all of there knives right around 59 hardness.

I don't have a bushcrafter anymore but the bushcrafter Mark II that I have has the same basic handle shape. The smaller bushcrafter won't have as pronounced a "guard" as the bushcrafter MK II. The thumb scallops are the biggest difference, the bushcrafter doesn't have it, and the genesis and next gen have a very slight taper from butt to blade whereas the bushcrafter is a pretty straight broomstick shaped handle.

The green micarta knife is the bushcrafter MK II followed by the genesis and then next gen.

The Bushcrafter HC is 1075 and is a good knife for seeing if you like the Kephart style of knives, stays sharp and easy to sharpen so will not hold as long an edge but is very tough, but handles most basic chores. I like the broom stick handle too. 3/32 and a good warranty to boot, the knife is a good bargain without a sheath, I figure most everyone has a sheath lying around, or not much more for a sheath.

As bikerector said, I don't see much need for 3V in small blades. My only LT Wright is a Patriot in D2 and bone
