The DVD says blade thickness is 1/8 and the CS website says blade thickness is 3/16. Did they make the blade thicker?

Ask over at the H.I. Khukri forum...they may know..

When I had one, I think it was 3/16". They are very light and good for machete work. If you need a chopper, check out himalayan-imports.com

Note regarding khukuris and CS, they recently put out a line of "khukuris" from the same people that make their machetes. These typically sell very cheap, but they look like the high price Carbon V versions. Take care with what you are buying.

The LTC Kukri is 1/8" thick in Carbon V.

The ATC Kukri is 3/16" thick in Carbon V.

The ATC Kukri is discontinued - a pity since it was a mean chopper with a HUGE sweet spot.

The LTC is perfect for backpacking.

I have 2 of the ATCs and they are both 1/4 inch thick at the spine.

I have 2 LTCs and they are both 5/32 inch thick, which is about halfway between 1/8 and 3/16.... go figure...

Crucible is correct about the ATC... They are the meanest chopper I have ever seen. If you find one, grab it. I have no idea why the discontinued it. One of mine is still NIB and the other I had Jay Maines put a custom handle on for me. It ROCKS!!

On the same token, I have done some pretty mean chopping with the LTC. Can't go wrong with the LTC for a good all round camp type knife.

You can still get a somewhat modified full thickness ATC kukri from CS. Check out the Gurkha Kukri ( model 35ATC), it's 5/16. ;)

my friend has a gurkha kukri and it really does a great job chopping but that kraton handle is unfriendly in the long run. it really bites the hand after awhile but you could wear gloves. on the older models i heard that the kraton was too soft and the tang would wear through the handle. :barf:

The current model Gurkha Kukri doesn't even compare with the original ATC as far as performance. I have 2 of those, also.
