Should lube be kept off the liner lock where it engages the tang of the blade? I think I read somewhere you said to keep the lock part unlubed and if the blade is a little on the snug side when opening to lube the detent ball? Thanks

Yes. Lube at the contact has been known to be problematic so I'd say leave it dry. You might wet the detent ball now and then very sparingly and also maybe under the washers sparingly once or twice at great intervals. I prefer a dry lubelike Tuff Glide myself to reduce the collection of lint and grit in the pivot area.

By they way I am trying to fit in other smaller jobs that come to me as is always the case because my policy has been on smaller jobs (many of which never are posted due to redundancy) where I have someones every day carry folder (s) I try to get those in and out of here within 24 hours.

Rest assured your project is not at a stand still just because of the way I squeeze in small jobs. Its just the way I typically work. Your knife will be finished soon and ready to ship. Maybe as early as Saturday, Monday latests if all goes well and so far its going well. I do have some final steps and other smaller jobs I'm trying to knock out though.

GOD BLESS YOU STR! I am very excited about my Ouperator from you and aprreciate the excellent service and the info I get from you. Why I asked this question is that I have a new Subclaw from Boker and it is a little tight on opening and I will try lube on the detent ball. Have a good one,

If the lock is sticking on release making it sometimes hard to push so you can close the blade you can first check to make sure its dry. For some reason oil makes it stick at times but once dry you can then apply the lead pencil trick by painting a little graphite on the contact to let that work its magic for you to ease the pain to the thumb a little bit. It will hold for about 30 openings and closing usually and just repeat until it breaks in. I'm doing that regularly right now with a new Alias II Bradley folder I just bought that sticks terribly. One of the worst I've had in years at first but its much better now.
