I don't recall the thread I read this, but I'm pretty sure I read that some knives require Silicon lubricant while others do not. Is there a general rule about the types of washers used e.g., Teflon vs. Phosphor Bronze? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks :D

I am curious about this also. Ive been spraying Rem oil in my pivots. I dont think its the right way to do it as the Rem oil attracts alot of dirt and such.

Miltec-1 for me as well, works great and doesn't attract lint and dirt to much.

benchmade blue lube and tuf-glide are what I use on all pivots and parts. for omega and coil springs/tortion bars i use nyogel

There are several different versions of Nyogel......which viscosity do you use?

Has anyone ever tried powdered graphite? It is generaly used in extremely cold climates or to lube household door locks etc. It's a dry powder and only a few bucks a tube at hardware stores. A little goes a long way. The down side is some possible mess if too much is squirted out. I have used it on sticking seat belt mechanisms.

If you use rem oil with teflon there will be little grime to get trapped. Works great.
Not sure if there is a difference using it on PB or Teflon.

I did a good amount of research on this before I settled on Shooter's Choice FP-10. It works really well; makes the pivot faster, lasts without evaporating, protects the metal, doesn't attract a lot of gunk, and doesn't have a weird smell. For the silicon lubricant, I'm wondering if you're thinking of Kershaw Speedsafe knives. They use silicon grease on the torsion bar to reduce rattle. But I can't think of any knives that only silicon grease is safe to use on.

Ask 20 people and you will get 20 different answers. Personally, I find that less is best, no matter what you use. Tuf-Glide, Militec, TriFlow are all good and I have no doubt left out dozens of others. As for me, I use Blue Lube Cleaner, which leaves a dry lube behind. If that doesn't give me the action I want, I will use Blue Lube itself.

I use any of my gun oils or tug-glide. I would imagine any oil that doesn't attract trash or gunk up is fine.
