Lubing Curtiss f3?

I got a Curtiss f3 and its not as buttery smooth as I've seen on videos n such. Sometimes it'll fly out with no problem and other times I can't get the blade out without a wrist flick. I'm getting it anodized in a couple weeks and hell clean it and lube it then, I'm just curious what I could do in the mean time without having to take it apart and clean it. I have benchmade blu lube that I could put in it but I wasn't sure if its ok to use that on a knife with a bearing system. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

A bearing system knife should work fine if kept clean. I don't lube any of my custom IKBS knives. A shot of WD-40 or BreakFree and a good dose of compressed air is all I do. In my experience, lubricant just attracts debris. I never lube any of my Mayos, IKBS or otherwise. They're all butter smooth.

I'm familiar with Dave's work, but not his bearing system. Have you tried contacting him for advice?

I haven't yet because I haven't wanted to bug him about it. Ill try the wd 40 and compressed air and if that doesn't help ill shoot him an email. Thanks for the info.

Just emailed me Curtiss and he suggested doing the same as you said. Thanks

I got a 3.5 f3 on the way and was wondering if there is a video out there of an f3 getting taken apart. I am curious if the bearings are going to fall out all over the place when disassembling (not familiar with the IKBS bearing system), or does Curtiss rather you not take your knife apart. And to the OP I have a feeling with how busy he is as of now, there will not be a quick turnaround when you send your knife in for a problem. Don't take my word for it, but I hear some people have had communication problems with him, at least when waiting on an order (got my F3 from one of his dealers).

I've emailed him a few times with quick responses, short and to the point but quick. I'm not going to have to send it in to him because the wd40 and compressed air did the trick, now it's smoother than when I got it. Mr. Curtiss specifically told me do not take the knife apart. I'm not too familiar with ikbs bearings but I do believe when you open it they'll fall out, not totally sure though. I asked him about anodizing and he didn't even like customizers like anodizers to take his knives apart and they know what they're doing. He said usually when his knives get taken apart by someone other than him he usually gets them back for repairs. I'd be afraid to take mine apart haha.
