pahl> I keep forgetting not to use Saskatchewan terms around the Americans... should have said it's the best available.

K> Gollnick has a great tip on his site. heat the pivot with a blowdryer, then put on militec-1... it just soaks in like mineral oil. Sit overnight and work it the next day.

K Williams,

As for penetration, I find that Militec-1 works it's way in everywhere, when you heat up the metal, like the directions say to.

As a lubricant, you don't use Militec-1 like an oil. It forms a molecular bond with the metal, and then you wipe off all excess. It works when the knife is totally dry, without any visible oil remaining--and thus is a lot lighter than any oil, when used in place of a traditional lubricant.

The repeate application of militec-1 is also a correct thing. I noticedc after the 1st time, but it was like glass after the 3rd, almost time for a 4th appklication soon.

taken my lube time down from a weekly thing to once a month or so

Gee, the list is endless...
Tuff-glide,
Militech,
Copper anti-sieze grease,
Tri-flow and Break Free (they're really the same stuff)
WD-40,
Assorted bicycle lubes...

Everything under the sun...
