I recently received a spyderco manix 2.im just wondering about lubrication. Where and how often. It doesn't seem to need any now. What is the best type for lubricant. Any advice is much appreciated.

You put it where there are parts rubbing together:) I use CRK grease and benchmade blue lube, they both work very well.

Nano oil works really well. Just a small drop on the pivot is all you need.

I've relied on CLP BreakFree for lube and corrosion protection for at least a couple of decades.

I use CLP. Once that runs out (should only be another 20-30 years) I want to try the nano oil, heard good things.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have studied them online and I think I'll try the nano oil. 😄

CRK grease lasts a long time for me and makes opening super smooth. Only takes a little for the tube lasts a long time.

BF CLP, M-Pro 7 LPX, and Hornady One Shot work well for me. In my experience LPX is the slickest of the three.

I use Break Free CLP and recommend it for lubrication and corrosion protection. In high humidity , the protection is useful.

Several years ago when blue lube was fairly new I checked with Benchmade support. They recommended Blue Lube but the repair department used Miltec-1 for consistency with the manufacturing and assembly department who USED Miltec-1. The have deleted this and other old discussion from the Benchmade forum. I do not know if they changed products for manufacturing. I will try the Blue lube in a few years when I run out of Miltec-1 and the other products on my shelf. Pocket knifes swivels and locks are very low stress on lubricants compared to engines and firearms.
