Lubricating Balis?

Hi all. Just wanted to know your thoughts/advice on lubricating Balisongs. I.e.; what type of lubricant, how much, or whether or not to do it at all! I currently have a cheapie, and a Jaguar. (Hopefully, a BM42 will soon be finding a home with me!) Anyway, last night I was playing with them, and decided to try lubricating them a bit, as they both squeaked a little. WOW! The lubricant (just Hoppe's gun/knife lube) really made them soooo much smoother! Anyway, is this a good lube to be using? Do you lube yours?

Thanks,
Strati

I used hoppes on mine and it turned into mud after a day or two. Was not pleased at all. I usually just give mine a shot or two of rem oil and that works a bit, not as well as I would like though. I am thinking that Militec-1 will be my next choice, I have heard tons of good stuff about it, but I haven't ordered any yet.

I've tried White Lightning and like it a lot; but it does tend gunk up like wd40. I think Miltec-1 might be a better choice.

White Lightening gunks up on a bali? I haven't had it do that on any of my knives that I have noticed. That seems odd.

Plus, I thought that was one of the things that it was supposed to keep stuff from doing. Hmmm.... maybe I'll have to reevaluate it. I was using it on my AFCK, but that is now away at BM for a visit.

Pull out a jug of MilTec1 and a blow-dryer and IMHO you can't do any better!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took a picture of the gunk between the picots of my 42, so I'll post it as soon as I get my dsl connection back up (flashcom is going oob

But Whitelightening works well for my butterflys, haven't tried the others but they also have a good rep for working well.

How long does it take for it to dry? I've had some on my bali for over a few days and its never dried.

I use Tetra Gun Oil when my balisongs squeak, my 42 doesn't squeak at all so I haven't had the need to put any on it for several months. I really don't like to lubricate my 42 because when I do it gets really quiet and I can't hear it very well, part of the love of balisongs is the sound that they make, when my 42 is lubed it is almost completely quiet

It's kinda like watching football without the sounds of the game, I just can't do it

My computer has only worked 1 time in the past 3 weeks, that is the reason that I haven't been online and talking with my friends (everyone at BFC) I am using my dad's computer which finally has internet access, the ISP I used to use (juno) won't let me connect due to prioritization of internet users, bunch of BS. I hope to somehow get my computer to work again but until then I will probably be scarce on the forums. Later everyone.......
