OK let me try it this way. Im a new knife guy. I own a Bradley Alias 1, BM Rift, Rift LE, Sequel LE, and am getting my first Custom Folder made by Matt Cucchiara and will recieve it in the next couple of months. As for taking care of my knives, what do you all use for cleaning and lubrication? I just ordered the Benchmade cleaner and lubrication products, but would like to know what some veterans think.

You did good, BM blue lube is my preferred lube. One very small drop per side is ALL that is needed.

For basic cleaning I use hot water, soap, and a nylon brush. Oil after dry.

For full cleaning I take the knife apart.

You'll likely get as many answers as there are knife nuts out there. I personally have been using Rem Oil for cleaning/lubrication, Mother's Mag Polish for anything the Rem Oil can't get rid of, and the new-ish Rem Oil MoistureGuard on any knives that I have that are prone to rusting (mainly the non-stainless and any old 13C26 Kershaws I've got lying around still).

I've been tempted to try out some of the other products that get mentions (Breakfree CLP, CRK Fluorinated Grease, Eezox, BlueLube, etc.), but the current setup has worked for me just fine, so why change?

Tuff-Glide, 3-in-1 Oil, PTFE Super lube, urea grease, MOLYLube, 'WhiteLightning,' and a host of others, all for lubing the pivots.

For protection from corrosion, Marine Tuff-Cloth.

For cleaning, WD-40, Ronson Lighter Fluid, soap and water, and a toothbrush.

I am starting to use Frog Lube CLP. LOVE IT! Smells just like Icey/Hot. I recommend :thumbup:

I've used everything from Hoppes#9 to BM blue lube. They're all pretty much the same(well not really.some are synthetic,& some are petroleum based:rolleyes:).Some are thicker/thinner.I been using Tuf-Glide exclusively for the past year or so.I like it better than the others because it's very thin,it keeps it's consistency even in very cold weather,& doesn't act like a 'dirt/dust magnet' I've found is the case with some others.
I'll disassemble the folder(not slip-joints),wash with hot soapy water, apply liberally to the pivot, reassemble, then wipe off the excess with a Tuf-Cloth.

I like the Blue Lube & the White Lightning too,but the Tuf-Glide is always the first thing I grab.
