Lubrication of Blade Pivot

Are there any "best" lubes for Emerson pivot pins? I have tightened my pivot screw to a point that strengthens and stiffens the handle - blade relationship. I used Loctite 242, and have seen no loosening. It still comes out of my pocket fully opened. I'd like the thumb opening to be a bit swifter. What, if any, lubrication is appropriate for the pivot?

I had a Tetra factory rep put a couple of drops into my stiff Commander's pivot and work it in. It feels great now - so much so that I'm actually considering buying some...

Up to now I have been using Sentry Solutions on all my knives and multitools, but I have heard good things about White Lightning so on my next trip to the US in October I'll get some and try it. Anyone else got any suggestions ?

Just be aware that Tuf-Glide, the active ingredient in Tuf-Cloth, is primarily a rust preventive. Its' lubrication qualities are minimal. If it works for your application, fine, but there have been many posters who have complained about stiff, sticky actions on their folders after using Tuf-Glide.

A PTFE (Teflon) containing oil or a Li or PTFE containing grease will lubricate much better. If you want a Sentry product, their High Slip grease is an excellent product. The only problem is that this is a M0S2 product, and will stain clothing.

10- 4 Walt. Sentry Hi Slip Grease is good stuff. Just wipe off the excess for minimal staining. Their BP powder is purported to be an excellent dry lube.

PS- check my post for Sentry Products in the Trading Post.

Care . . . The older Tetra formula smells like bad cheese.

I heard that they got enough complaints that they changed it.

I just got a bottle of Sentry Solutions Tuff Glide. Why just a few drops of Tuff Glide takes care of all my obssessive/compulsive custom care needs!
Must go now...My CQC-6 just told me that it feels neglected.

Hmm... don't notice any funky orders coming from my Commander. I guess they must've (thankfully) changed the forumla.

John H: My new Commander, though much more solid feeling lockup - STILL fails fairly gentle Spine Whack tests - about a third of the time. Waaah!

Don't know what to tell you other then EKI will fix it up for ya'. I'm on record as not being much of a spine whacker, but you have to have confidence in your carry blade. Ya' know?

Can't wait for my second Commander to arrive so I'll always have a backup in case factory service is needed!

Regarding failures to lock, I'd bet it is the relative angle between the side lock and blade faces, perhaps coupled with a weak side lock spring force.
