For my birthday dad gave me a little money, it wasn't much but enough to get something I have been wanting to check out, a Luci Light.
The luci light is a solar powered inflatable lantern made from heavy mil plastic similar to a beach ball. It has ten LEDs with three modes which include high/low/strobe and the solar panel and lights are inside the plastic which means its shock and waterproof and floats as well. The unit charges in about six hours in direct sunlight and will last about seven hours on high and up to twelve on low.
You can see in this picture the power/mode button on the left. The button on the right is the charge indicator which shows how much power the unit has left. Horizontally in the photo you will notice a clear handle which allows you to carry or hang it up. The best part is theis model only cost $13 and was eligible for prime (free shipping), hard to beat.
Here you can see the dimensions which is about 5 inches diameter by 1 inch thick when not inflated. When inflated it is about 5 inches high/thick.
I have it sitting on the bed essentially upside down (high mode) to provide a little light in a small area.
This photo was taken holding the light about three feet above (high mode) and as you can see it puts out plenty of light to read by or do other fine detail work if you needed too. If you hung it up higher it would still put out a lot of light to see what you need to and you wouldn't have to worry about tripping over things in the dark or finding what your looking for.
As you can see my walls are dark paneling which reflects less light, but the ceiling shows just how bright this thing really is. I have no doubt at all that if you set it on a table or even the ground it would light up a room or tent and even a campsite to give you enough light to do just about anything you might need to do completely hands free.
I am very satisfied and glad I finally decided to order one. It will probably go in my Go bag but would be great in your trunk, boat, home, camper, for camping, emergency kit, storm shelter, or whatever else you can think of. Of course if you need to be on all night on high you may want two of them but at this price that shouldn't be an issue. Try one, you won't be sorry.
