Just got this in an email from Blade magazine. Dr Jim Lucie is selling most of his collection. I would only be able to afford a Treeman Scagel reproduction (Jim makes great knives BTW). I got to handle a Loveless Scagel interpretation over the weekend at the Chesapeake knife show, among some other Loveless's, and the whole basic pattern is just really striking. When you add in the whole inspiration behind Randall knives was Bo Randall buying a Scagel that was being used to scrape paint off of the underside of a boat, it just makes knife collecting cool and fun. I love all of the old stories, and there seem to be a helluva lot of them with Scagel.

That is very cool! I have been intrigued by Scagel stuff for a long time now. He was a hell of a character. That auction should be epic!

Thanks for the link.

This should be a very interesting event in the world
of Modern Custom Knives, especially for the followers
and collectors of Scagel knives.

I hope that the results of the auction will also be published
as well as pictures of some of the more interesting pieces.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)
