Well after reading about everyone starting to get there Kershaw RAM's I got jealous and broke down and ordered one for myself from NGK on Wednesday. Well it arrived this afternoon and I am impressed. The fit and finish is superb, but now I'm faced with a problem, should I use it or stick it in the drawer??? You see the knife I got is a first production run numbered 1 of 500:D Me thinks I need to order another for a user.

Yup. At least one more. Then you could have a give away in honor of your 260th post!:thumbup:

Hmmmm I don't think I like were this thread is going.......:(......lol.

Nice choice Dave,
Many R.A.M.s that are currently shipping are from the first batch of 500 and will be marked. This could pose a prblem for you if you order a second one right away. The second one will come and will also be marked first production then you won't want to use that one either!! Then you'll have to order another one!!! At this rate, you could have a half dozen new R.A.M.s before you ever even get to cut anything!!

My advice, wait a while, let the rest of us buy up all of the first production run modeds, and then in a couple of months you can get another one!!;)

BTW, mine is marked 1 of 500 as well, but I couldn't resist using it. It's been in my right front pocket ever since it arrived. I love this knife!!:D

Cheers,
Jon

Yeah, mine's 1st production too, but I started using it as soon as I got it (Yesterday). Excellent knife.

I definitely like this one too! I have a couple knives that are going to spend more time in the knife drawer because of it.:D

Technically there should be about 500 marked that way. ;)

I wouldn't be too surprised to find out all 500 haven't hit the streets yet.

Yes Dave, it can be a bit deceiving. ALL 500 of the first run are marked 1 of 500. They don't mark them 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on. But it's always nice to have one of the first batch!!

Dave, what you probably have guessed by now is that the first 500 are marked "1 of 500". This is not to be confused with a serial number, which would be marked "#1 out of 500", or just "serial no. 1/500"
Common mistake. By all means order another to use, but don't be afraid to use the one you have either. Welcome to the Kershaw Forum!

Always a good idea to order a minimum of two of everything (I'll try to post pics of my new Kershaws when they get here, show you what I mean!)

BTW, if you get one marked "Onion", SPXTrader is a collector and will pay a premium price for it. :)

I see you were still typing when I made my post:D Oh well, can't have too much good information, eh NY?

I finally figured it out....lol. I have knives from other manufacturers that have consecutive numbering in their 1st production runs, I assumed Kethaws were the same. I'm actually kind of relieved, I'm not a collector and prefer knives I can use.
