I have been trying to figure why some people are lucky and others will never have any luck at all. You always hear the stories of people hitting the lottery more than once while others have played all their lives and only ever got 1 number on a ticket. Or somebody goes to the casino and sits at a machine for 5 minutes and hits the jackpot not once but 3 or 4 times while someone will sit at a slot for 5 minutes and go through all their money without so much as winning a cent. I could go on an on giving examples of this. I want to hear the stories from the lucky ones to see what the secret is.

"That's why they call it 'gambling'"... I sat down at a BlackJack table once with a Hundred dollar bill, left 2hrs later with $100.50, true story. I started playing dice in Mesquite Nevada with $11, left 2 1/2hrs later with over $400... I've lost plenty as well... Still play lotto on occasion.

Bottom line is, gambling is luck. No ryme or reason.

Thanks for your post mykulmorris. By the way you make a great blade. I don't really want to focus on the gambling. This luck thing comes in many forms. Some people that have no luck with anything will refer to it as a black cloud over their heads. Here is another example. Your at the grocery store and you go to check out and the cashier runs out of register tape or they need to get change and there you are standing and waiting or you go to the bank drive through and you get behind somebody who takes forever and you see them sending the canister back and forth 3 or 4 times before they pull out. Is there anybody that can shed some light on what makes someone lucky? Is it attitude or are you born with it?

Look at it the way I do.

You're lucky you can go to a grocery store and don't have to worry about where your next meal will come from. You're lucky you have a car and a bank account.

I consider myself lucky every time I go to the grocery store or drug store on a holiday like Memorial Day or Easter Sunday and there are people working while I still have a job with a company that still gives me those days off. I even take a second to thank the clerk for working on those days because I know they would rather be enjoying the Holiday with friends and family.

Luck is all about how you look at it.

I'll admit, I do feel a little cursed when I get behind the person at the ATM that is trying to refinance their house or whatever it is they do for 20 minutes. :o :p

Hope that helps,

Fully agree with this. In my opinion, being lucky/blessed is knowing you have plenty to eat, a roof over your head, and a support system (be it a wife, kids, friends, family, a hobby). I have been in a casino when a little old lady wins a jackpot at a slot machine though, definitely a head scratcher.

You guys are totally right ! If you can get out of bed in the morning we can certainly consider that being lucky. We did a cut a thon at the salon the other day for the pediatric cancer foundation and it felt like I had won a million bucks. Maybe the secret to luck is you get what you give.

I would say I've lived a "Blessed" life. Luck really has nothing to do with it. Do I have car troubles, and sickness? Yes. Do I have a great family, good job, and fun friends? Yup. I do agree that it has more to do with outlook, than actual events.

I can look at all the times when I've "gotten lucky" and lay them out end-to-end, and someone will say that I've been very lucky, or I can lay out all the bad things that have happened in my life, and they'd say the opposite.

There are such things as coincidences. But, I also believe there is a God, and he's looking out for those who follow him. I may not always have the best outcome in all situations, but I'm learning from those, and enjoying the good things that happen, as well.

I have more than many, and less than a lot of people, but I'm happy where I am. I am Blessed.
