I just got my new plain edge Spyderco Military from ABC-Direct. Now I know what all the fuss is about.

The fit and finish are superb, it opens fast and smoothly, and man is it BIG! It dwarfs my large Sebenza by an inch. Packaged very nicely, it came out of the box super sharp. This is a fantastic piece of cutlery for the price.

I look forward to running the CPM 440V through its paces.

This is my first Spyderco, and I must say I'm impressed.

Sal, you made a great knife.

Welcome to the fray, LD! You'll find out that you will wear out before 440V does

Did you get plain or serrated?

My serrated Military cleanly slices thin strips from any type paper I try, with absolutely no drag or hang ups. Fantastic knife!!!

Lucky Dog,

Welcome to the club and enjoy the many uses you will get out of your blade.
I am sure you will love it as the rest of us do.

I'm just wondering (as a non Military owner), why do I keep seeing people say it is BIG? Is it the handle that makes it seem big? Because the blade length is actually shorter (slightly) than the Endura, isn't it?

Like I said, I'm just wondering. Man, I hope I can afford one after the rolling lock gets added...

O_D,

The Military is an enigma. It looks and feels big, but is so lightweight that one wonders if the laws of physics are being challenged. I know you hate liner locks, but this one is so well done that I wouldn't worry about it failing (any more than a rolling lock). Dexter and I compared our Military's at a gun/knife show in Charlotte last weekend and we noted how every Military that we've seen locks up identically - perfect. Pretty good endorsement. Sal and crew got this one spot on.

Later,
Chris

I know. I haven't heard of a single instance of a Military coming unlocked accidentally (at least, the new style). And I look at the blade shape at the top of the forum screen, and it is SCHWEET! If I do ever get a liner lock, this will be the one...
