I was lucky enough to pick one of the 3.5 Bead Blast scales when they were available recently. I knew all of my Hinderer's were stonewashed, by seeing how bead blast was all that was available, I picked one up anyway.
Scale came in today and the craftmanship is second to none. Top shelf all the way around, nice job Rick and guys at the Ranch!
Didn't like how the bead blast contrast my stonewash blade and locking side, so I decided to stonewash the scale myself. Took some 1500 grit to it first for 5-10 minutes, then into the media of ceramic and natural stones for a quick stonewash.
Tried to capture the finish best I could on camera. It looks better in person I think for sure. I think you can tell better in the pic where I compare the stonewash locking side of my slicer with the Ti scale I just stonewashed. The stonewash I applied is pretty close to what the blade and locking side look like, I am very pleased with the results. Hopefully more of the Ti scales and standoffs are in the works. It really does make the knife feel like a beast! (more so than before
