Yesterday morning I drove about 25 miles to a gun show. I've been to several before and usually I'm disappointed with the knife selections. I packed a few in my cargo pockets, they usually end up being just conversation pieces, if even that. Yesterday turned out different.

I felt fortunate to be able to come away with this one in my pocket. Was able to work out a fair trade, and did not have to get out the wallet. It does have a hairline on the back side lower pin, but that did not bother me too much, and probably enabled me to get it. Very nice bone color, nice snap, action and fit, the blades look nearly full, and the clip blade has a nice half-stop to it. Sharp as all get out.

I have to say it felt pretty nice having this one to EDC the rest of the day. Looks like someone else had did that for awhile. I had to get it out and coon finger it several times.

This is such an great old pattern, I can't imagine why Schrade didn't continue to make them.

Fantastic find Thawk, I think that must be one of the most hand shaking experiences to find one of these looking up at you from a table, well done!

It was without a doubt a resounding "Well hello there mister!" when I spotted that unmistakeable handle shape and bolster, in amongst a fairly populated knife case.

:thumbup:Nice, very nice score there Hal congrats on a great piece of history and great old pattern.:)

Way to go, i have a rather large Old Timer collection and that 2OT was by far the hardest to find.Unlike you I paid though the nose for mine, but sometimes you just gotta have that one more knife, happy collecting,G.M

Amazing find Hal. after all i've read here about the 2OT, it's rarity such that it's like a search for the Schrade Holy Grail; and here your Schrade efforts brought you the knowledge to spot your just rewards !
Right On ! you deserve it ! (esp. now that you have title of "Ulster/Imperial Reference Dude") roland

........Smokey have got a swag of them in their new releases with Llbc Taylor China inside right liner written in Mandarin.....and you need a flashlight to see................
nah just joshin ya!!
Each 2OT has a personality all its own as I'm yet to see 2 perfectly identical bone handle colors on separate knives.
That is a beautiful example.........well done.... feels great in the hand dont they?..I've got tracking devices on all existing 2OT's...did that 2OT come from a gentleman from West Tennessee?? Hoo Roo.

Post Script...I just relooked at some photos of one I was offered privately recently and the reverse handle color marking is slightly different so I realize yours is not from Tennessee....but there is still a brother to that one lurking out there..........in 2OT land......

Thanks Larry. The handles match color front to back, and I like the little patch of white on the front bottom. Cool they are all somewhat unique. I think you have a great golden one.

If Stuart Taylor remakes a 2OT, I will puke for sure! That is some ugly humor Larry. :barf: :D

No the knife came from a husband and wife team from Arkansas, pretty big collection of knives, this one was not even close to being the star. He had owned it for awhile, just does knife shows, not an Ebay person. Did not catch his name.

....that golden one is the Craftsman shield 2OT. The dark bone all seem to have whitish marking somewhere front or back....and some are more reddish than dark..... I hope you didnt trade your numbered green scale Kious Schrade Demascus did you???

No, that was Joel (Gradall with the green Kious). I traded a couple of knives to get this thing. I thought it was fair. He must have too, and has been selling knives since the early 60's. I don't think he knew how much the crazy Schradeaholics covet those things. The trade did not take a lot of dickering.

Oh yeah. This one is definitely reddish in tint. The pictures did not accentuate that.

And rightly so. Yesterday was a 5 star day. It was the first time I ever traded knives face to face.

Geez Hal, that's fantastic! I dream of seeing something like that at gun shows, unfortunately they don't even come close to that around here. Come to think of it I've never even seen one at a knife show. Your one lucky guy, maybe you should go out and snag a lottery ticket!:D
