Hello guys,
Luis asked me to post his latest WIP.
Its for a very long criollo blade in W wavy ladder made by Marcial Dos Santos.

So lets get started

I am in. I love watching the progression as Luis produces beauty in every images.
Thanks for posting these Manuel.

Thats it.
I love this style of silversmith myself, where you have flats mixed with some areas with a lot of ornament.

The blade is quite long, about 50 cm, put given the angle of the picture you cant really see it.
I asked Luis to take one final picture so you can see how the complete piece actually looks.

Manuel, do you think we could get a picture (or pictures) of the finishing process? I see that a lot of antiquing and polishing has happened, and would love to know how.

That's the last one.
Its a 30 cm ruler, so like I said its a huge blade.

He doesn't have pictures of the polishing process, next time

Are these handles always left hollow, or are they sometimes filled with some kind of resin?

They never are left hollow, always filled with resin. Like that red one he uses to "sink" the pieces while chasing.
Silver is too soft to left hollow.

This kind of handles are what gauchos used in their knives, and they used and abused their knives.

Manuel Quiroga G. ,

How do you curl the hammer worn and flared ends of your chisels? Its a style of tool care I have never seen before.
