G'day everyone,
I have just arrived and starting this forum thing so please bear with me if I stuff it up.

I have a bit of a sorry looking Lum Folder; it is my all time favorite knife and I adore it.
Carried it for six years when I was sailing the world, replaced it twice.
Most definately the sharpest knife I own, superb steel

But.. the pocket clip has snapped off,
and I have lost the pivot assembly.
or to be more presice one side of it went overboard and my sons have relocated the other bits for me.

What are my chances of a rebuild, are the repair people up to scratch?

I would appreciate your help or comments.

Cheers
Matt

Geeze, so you have the blade and one side of the knife? I would just get a new one. I don't think Spyderco will replace those parts for free, and it would probably just be worth it to get a whole new one.

Good luck.

I think you may have mis understood me, sorry.

I do have the blade, both sides of the handle with all the liner lock intact.

What I don' have is the two sides of the pivot nut and the little teflon washers.

I don't expect them to repair it for free, I am happy to pay it is just I don't want to send it 14,000 miles if it is not possible.

The knife is not available any more and with two young Boys I cannot afford to replace it.

I love it.

I think replacing a pivot, washers, and clip is not a problem. You should email Spyderco to detail the situation and get their response firsthand though.

Sounds like that knife would have some stories to tell. Welcome to the forum and let us know how you go getting the knife back together. How did it come apart?

You should come join us on australianbladeforums.com as well. Always need more Spydie fans over there.

Jeeez, it is back already...repaired.

How bloody good are the customer service people...there are a few Australian companies that could learn a thing or two from Spyderco!

I am in awe, all bits replaced for no charge at all ( apart from the $5 Australian, which didn't even cover the return mail costs as it had $9 US on the box)
and sharp as sharp.
The kicker was a letter saying they are glad I am enjoying it!
Bravo Fellas.
Thanks again if by chance anyone who counts reads this.

Dad gum, you Tasmanian folks are hard on your knives! Glad they got you fixed up though man.

Yes sir Mr Bake This one has had a hard life.
As my alltime favorite it has had a shackle through its hole and a lanyard attached.
I bought it at perhaps the worlds most expensive knife shop (Cannes, South of France), cost me the tips from a two week charter.
Crap tip.
Fine slice of VG10 and Titanium though.

Lost the original, made the idiot who dropped it overboard dive for hours then replace it.

This one has been across the Atlantic four time and most of the way around the world.
I was very upset when it came apart but it was my own fault for stripping it down to lubricate and clean.

This is when one stripped thread and then my two sons came into play...hiding bits I still havn't found!

Good to hear it's now back in one piece, Spyderco CS is legendary and this tale is just another good example. Now get back out there and use it :-D

I had sent 2 knives to Spyderco for repair, along with a check for $25 because the repairs the knives needed were kinda my own fault, and my understanding is it's $25 when it's the user's fault. They sent the knives back to me, repaired, along with my check, saying "we only need $5."
