Hey guys. So, i have this purdy zdp-189 lum chinese that i love, but it having scales in alu is been proven to be a problem. i had to give it a good cleaning after it had been used to slice up some fruit. This resulted in the alu stripping, and the screws having a bad time getting any grip.
now the blade is being pinched by the scales, making it not so smooth to open. (yes, i know this is my fault etc. warranty is gone, so sending it in is not an option. also i live in norway, so the postage would be the value of the knife :/ )
so, first of, does anyone know if i buy one of the g10/vg10 lum chineses that is available now, that it is possible to swap blades? zdp-189 in g10 scales would be smooth.
the other option is custom scales, and that could be fun:) but im guessing a more priceyer option than for knives that have steel liners.

thanks!

Generally speaking, in production knives, it is possible to switch blades out - however the liner may not mate well due to manufacturing differences/variations - maybe try switching both the liner and blade?

Also, I'm not aware that they made any G-10 scaled knives in the small (original size). All of them have titanium, aluminum, or carbon-fiber scales that I know of.

The only one with G-10 that I am aware of is the larger size, so the blade/liner would not be able to be exchanged.

Re-tapping (putting new thread) in the screw holes is an option but requires some specialized equipment....
