My friend Nemo sent me a Lum folder all the way from France! Thanks, Nemo, and thanks, Sal, for a great knife! I noticed one really cool detail: on mine (blue Almite), the edge of the aluminum handle is sanded/ground/whatever after anodizing (is this anodized or some other process?) to make it look like there are liners under the scales. When I opened the knife I thought to myself "great! I can take this apart and make myself some scales for it because it has liners" and I was fooled all the way until I had the thing apart! Nice little detail!

I'm glad I finally got one of these. I had Mel "Madpoet" Sorg (RIP) make me a fixed blade version kit knife of Lum's original model that I saw in a magazine a few years ago. Not too long afterward Spyderco announced they were making a folder version and, about 5 years after doing my FB version, I finally have one! Very cool. I'll take pics of the two of them together...

Hey there Chiro-
That's a cool knife- It's one of my favorites. I like the gunmetal blue finish- it was a limited-edition run for the European market. I remember the FB knife that Madpoet (Mel) made in that blade pattern- I was interested in ordering one from him, but he left us too soon. What a loss.
Long time, no hear. I sometimes still carry the small knife I got from you a few years ago. Still giving good service. Still making knives?
Cheers,
Mike

Yep! Here are a couple of things that I've recently done. Which knife did I sell to you? I manage to crank out a handful every year. When you only do 10 or less a year, each one is better than the last, though! When I'm 50 I'll be making masterpieces! :D

$10,000 :p Actually, I traded it to someone for some other knives. What would you expect to pay for it, out of curiosity?

I bought a small 'Persian' from you (probably 1999 or so).
Nice Kydex as well. Good carry piece. Good cutter.

That's the one I thought. I was going to post a pic to confirm, but it's on my home computer. How has the etching held up on it? I really liked that knife. Didn't want to send it to you after I finished it!

It's held up really well- still visible. I hit it w/ TuffCloth to keep the rust bugs away. Glad you were able to part w/ it ;) I also sometimes carry the little patch knife you did the Kydex for- that's a good little carry unit.
Keep me in the loop when you have new stuff- I like your work.
