Have you ever considered a zytel version of the Lum tanto? I think it could be a real seller with zytel and ats-55. Any other forumites have opinions on this?

Heresy!!!

NONONONO! the Lum is classy, elegant – one-of-a-kind in the spyderco line -hope they keep it this way...

I haven't got mine yet - but I will, and soon enough...

I fully understand your point. My idea was that most of Spydercos sales are not the classier customs but rather the zytel low-
budget models like the Endura and Delica. A zytel version of the Lum would probably sell like...well.. the Endura or Delica. Tanto blades are a big thing now and have been for some time. And Spyderco has no tanto model in the "regular" lineup. The more zytels they sell the more money will be available to put into custom collaborations.
I use most of my knives and use them hard.
IMHO zytels are vastly under-rated. I use Enduras to chop, bend, pry and cut in a way that I might not wanna use a more expensive classy folder. I sure would like to have a zytel Lum to ride along with the Endura and make it see some hard use.
I very much respect the Ti-Lum Tanto. It´s just that I think a zytel version has a role to fill, both practically and economically.

The extra work on the blade for the Lum would price it out of the "low-end", even if you were using paper mache for the handle. It's not just a tanto shaped blade, it's a hamaguri (yeah, spelling, whatever...) ground tanto blade, with rigorous quality control.

Some things just aren't destined for the masses...

OK, I'm listening. We thought that the Lum Tanto might be popular enough to "go to plastic". If we ground the tip flat instead of "hamaguri", with a FRN handle, left/right tip up clip like the Endura...probably wouldn't cost much more, if at all, than the Endura.

So Whaddayathink?

Great! Super! Fantastic!
The Guru has spoken. As I said, I truly think a plastic fantastic FRN Lum has a role to fill, both for Spyderco and for us, the ELUs. The Lum blade is also much better suited for actual usage than straight chisel ground blades IMHO. I think this could be a winner.

I think that a zytel or FRN Lum would be nice. I hope it would still be liner lock Spyderco could give Cold Steel a run for their money

Jonny - We'll be testng the G-10 Lum later this year. Then we'll make our decisions.

Sorry Pelle, I must revise my opinion, with G10 and an easier grind you may be on to a good thing

That´s what I hoped for. Maybe there could be room for both a FRN and G-10 version.
Both would be wonderful hard use knives.
