I saw the "LumberJills" a couple years ago - I thought this should be funny, women with axes and such.

They would whip my *** in about a minute I think. Quite impressive.

These guys now participating - most are converts - guys from other sport lines now swinging an axe as hard as they can - and yet it is still quite impressive to say the least.

In my mind I would like to think I could hang with one of those guys, but reality and fantasy are very, very, very far apart in this dream of mine. LOL

Always a good watch. Thanks for the post.

I'll probably go this year. Never seen this level of completion before. Besides Hayward has some great bars, and the freshwater fishing hall of fame.

Hayward, Hayward... had alot of fun around that town. It's one of the few outdoor gems you can find in Wisconsin, and a great cultural center for everything Northwoods. It would probably be worth going if commuting from Twin. This event is really going to save this town: its biggest attraction and moneymaker every year is the Birkiebiener, which is a hellish cross country ski race based on a few-hundred-year-old Norwegian military tradition-lots of cool history. There's like 6,000 competitors signed up this year and no snow, so it's a big bust for the town. My dad's won in his category a few years in a row, and he's still doing it into his 50's, but because of the lack of snow, nobody has had any time to train up and do the spectacle any justice.

I'm thinking....frequenters of the ATH forum pow wow.....

ETA: I'm serious. Does that interest anyone else???????

Family vacation in SC that week.......of course this could be my way out.......(it is with her side of the family)

Hayward has an airport; Sawyer County airport. But flying into Duluth or MSP and driving the 2-3 hours might be cheaper/faster considering layovers. I'll be driving from St Paul. I'm willing to bet lodging in Hayward will fill up pretty quick too. So book a room early.

Is this the one that used to be on TV all the time with the STIHL sponsorship, or is that a different event all together?

EDIT - Oh thats the Timbersports Series. Sorry.
