Luminox Marine Series watches

Does anyone have this watch? If it is a substantial upgrade over my Seiko 100M Chrono/Alarm, I'm going to get it.

One of the things I'm looking for is a SS watchband that doesn't go clink clink clink when I move my arm. I know that I should be looking at rubber straps in this case, but I don't like the look.

How's the scratch resistance of the case, watchband, and face? I hope to use this new watch for quite a while.

Word on the net is Luminoxes are not that great for resistance to scratching and beating and general abuse. Probably not better than your Seiko in any way except brightness (and maybe looks, if you like the looks). Seiko divers are very durable watches.

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll just buy a new Seiko when I'm back in Hong Kong (they're cheaper there).

I can't justify the added cost of the Luminoces (hehe, what a plural) if they're not significantly tougher than Seikos. Not many styles to choose from either.

Been there already, thanks. :) I think I'm already at the point of forum overload, going between BFC, KF, CPF and SIDB, I can spend hours of my time reading up on posts.

I can even post on one forum, move to the next, and when I'm done, there will be replies to the first forum's messages, so I can spend the whole day on the forums. Not very conducive to my studies. :)

I'm not sure about the Marine series, but I have a Luminox in all Titanium and it does have a significant amount of rattling. Since titanium is less dense then steel, it has a higher pitched rattle than my SS watches which took me a bit to get used to. I have had the watch for about a year and a half with no problems. Scratches on the band are noticeable, but you accept it as part of the charm of wearing it. The crystal is scratch free.

Among my seven nicer watches (two Seiko, a Citizen, Junghans, Bulova, and Casio), it is the one I wear most due to the great illumination system, light weight, looks, and great accuracy (within 3 sec. per month).
